Cost & Insurance

Everything about money, privacy, and paperwork, written out plainly so you are not guessing before we ever speak.

What Sessions Cost

  • Consultation (15 min) No cost
  • Therapy session (50 min) $100
  • Sliding scale Available

Sliding scale is available for those who do not have the means to afford the full fee. Bring it up on the consult call. You will not be the first person to ask, and it will not change how I work with you.

Why Private Pay

I do not bill insurance directly, and for a lot of people that turns out to be a benefit. Private pay means no diagnosis on your permanent record, no insurance company deciding how many sessions you get or when you are finished, and more privacy about what we talk about.

It also means we can shape the work around what you actually need rather than what a plan will authorize.

I am still bound by mandated reporting laws, confidentiality requirements, and my professional ethical guidelines.

Payment

I accept credit and debit cards, cash, and electronic transfer. Payment is due at the time of session.

Cancellation policy to be confirmed.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to a Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost. I will provide one before we begin, and you can request one at any time.

Out-of-Network Benefits

Many insurance plans will reimburse you for part of the cost of seeing a therapist who is out of network. Most people never find out, because the paperwork is confusing. Here is how it works.

  1. You pay for your session at the time we meet.
  2. I give you a superbill, which is an itemized receipt with everything your insurance company needs on it.
  3. You submit the superbill to your insurance company.
  4. If your plan includes out-of-network benefits, they reimburse you directly.

Worth asking your insurance company: Do I have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits? What is my deductible, and how much of it have I met? What percentage do you reimburse per session?

Confidentiality & Mandated Reporting

What we talk about stays between us. There are a few legal exceptions I am required to tell you about up front: if there is reason to believe a child, an elder, or a dependent adult is being abused or neglected; if you are at serious risk of harming yourself or someone else; and if a court orders the release of records.

Outside of those situations, your information is yours. If you ever have questions about how this works, ask me. I would rather explain it twice than have you wondering.

Still have questions about cost?

Bring them to the consult. It is fifteen minutes, it costs nothing, and there is no obligation on either side.
